Jack is a Florida native who started freediving and spearfishing when he was 5 years old. Up until 5 years ago, he had only used a Hawaiian sling to hunt fish. Heather is a certified free diver and a lover of anything water.  She got into freediving when she moved to Soflo in 2006 from North Georgia and took a deepdive into the sport. Like Solfo' Spear's owner she started with frequent beach dives and enjoys practicing her deep dive techniques and breath hold. You can now find her spearfishing in south Florida, Mexico, Panama’, Hawaii, Turks & Caicos, Costa Rica, Colombia, and Bahamas for epic species like Blue / Yellow Fin Tuna.

We've traded in the pole spear for a soflo speargun and left the scuba equipment at home - a tough task for two professional scuba divers. Not to mention, learning to ID, measure, and shoot our dinner on a single breath has been quite the learning curve. Challenges aside, freediving and spearfishing is incredibly rewarding.  It's motivated us to broaden our horizons, connect more to nature, conserve what ocean we have left, and provide ourselves with sustainable seafood beyond our typical catch.  As two ocean enthusiasts based in South Florida, it's the ultimate way to truly live an ocean-friendly lifestyle!

Born in the US but raised in New Delhi, India, I learned to freedive on pristine Indian Ocean coral reefs. When I began studying Marine Science and Microbiology at the University of Miami FL, where I bought my first speargun and began my underwater hunting journey. Now a marine biologist, I strive to pioneer the sustainable spearfishing movement, utilizing YouTube and Instagram platforms to educate viewers about responsible spearfishing, marine biology, and conservation. I'm delighted to join the SoFlo Spearfishing team to help provide reliable, cost-effective spearfishing equipment to sustainable spearos worldwide.

Thrown into the waters of St. John, I was fortunate to spend a large portion of my childhood navigating the crystal clear waters of the US virgin islands. As a kid, we would snorkel out to water lemon key, a local dive hotspot, where we would see turtles, lemon sharks, and all kinds of reef fish. Determined to learn more about the ocean ecosystem I grew up reading my handy “Reef fish” book and trying to name each fish I saw. Hearing the epic and often scary stories of the local spearfisherman, I was eager to give it a try. Spearfishing for me is a meditative sport that allows you to connect with nature in a primal way that has been lost to most of modern day society. Currently, I live in Miami, Florida, where I dive regularly with my trusty spear armada.

It was after graduating university, my wife and I decided to move to Bermuda full time and my interest in freediving and spearfishing really took hold. I started out hunting lionfish where I met a great group of other divers from whom I have learned a lot. I soon got into hunting bigger fish which was more fun! In 2016 I received my intermediate freediving certification from Ted Harty at PFI. The complete immersion into the ocean that freediving and spearfishing provides is what I love the most about it, but I also really like that it is so sustainable.

Antigua, Santin was raised in a small Caribbean island and would frequently skin-dive with his father on the coat of California. Having a strong connection with the ocean Santin began Spearfishing at the age of 10.  Spearfishing’s sustainability, tranquility, and connection with nature and the ocean led Santin to venture deep into the culinary side of reducing waste of fish processed, and different global cooking techniques. Santin’s YouTube is an extension of his passion, demonstrating fish cleaning to reduce waste, Japanese techniques for different flavors, dry-aging, etc. Santin is excited to grow with the SoFlo Spearfishing team and contribute to the expansion of a sustainable lifestyle.

I grew up in Clearwater, Florida so I have always been in and around the water. I now live in Key West. I’ve always loved water sports but when I got into freediving and spearfishing about 7 years ago I knew I had found one of my passions! The first fish I shot was a snapper on a shore dive back home with a homemade pole spear and ever since then I fell in love with it! Even though I grew up on the water, I wasn’t raised eating much seafood, so I really enjoy that spearfishing has introduced me to trying more fish! I’m very grateful to be able to live and dive in the beautiful waters of the Florida Keys.
